Serving Pets and their Families since 1991
Thank you for trusting us with the care of your furry friends!
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination.
Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems.
We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. We have a commitment to excellence in patient care and we specialized in high-quality personalized service to our patients and their families.
Therapy Laser: We are very excited with the success stories of our Class 4 therapy laser, also known as K-Laser. This is a wonderful new way to provide our patients with an effective drug-free treatment option for pain, trauma, and even wound healing! It has been proven to stimulate tissue repair, and decrease both inflammation and pain.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. Our personalized care includes a special focus on pain management both during and after the surgical procedure. Your pet will be closely supervised at all times and our technician will be happy to give you a call as soon as your pet is in recovery.
Anesthesia: We understand that the thought of having your pet anesthetized can sometimes be scary. We strive to provide the very best in anesthesia and pain management. We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Our protocols are based on recommendations from well-recognized leaders in veterinary anesthesia, surgery and internal medicine. Prior to anesthesia, each pet is examined to evaluate for any underlying health conditions. Pre-anesthetic blood testing will help us to customize your pet's anesthetic protocol. Intravenous fluids help us to keep your pet well-hydrated (remember, food and water are with-held prior to surgery), and also provide support for the patient's blood pressure, and help to eliminate the anesthetic drugs from the body more quickly. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. Of course, nothing can replace that personal touch. A technician will be closely observing your pet at all times and will be happy to contact you when your pet is in recovery.
Internal medicine consults: We are fortunate to have several board-certified specialists here in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. We will be happy to refer your pet for more specialized care when needed. Or just for a second opinion if you so desire. (We welcome and encourage second opinions!)
Radiology Services: Our on-site X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Permanent identification: We offer microchip identification. This type of permanent identification is extremely important to help re-unite you with your pet when the need arises. Natural disasters, such as flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, and heavy storms in our area increase the risk of your pet accidently becoming separated from you.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.
Individualized Parasite Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
Grooming: We provide pet grooming as a service to our clients. Ange has been with us for more that 12 years and we are fortunate enough to have her services as a groomer on Mondays. She will be happy to chat with you to ensure she understands exactly what your wishes and concerns are for your pet.
Bathing: Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available Monday through Friday.
Emergency Care: Should an emergency arise, please call us (548-2000) and we will make every effort to provide excellent medical care for your pet. Should an emergency arise after we are closed, there are 3 emergency clinics here in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach to provide for your pet's after-hours emergency care. Greenbrier Veterinary Emergency (366-9000) is on Eden Way, behind Greenbrier Mall. Tidewater Veterinary Emergency (498-5478) is on Virginia Beach Blvd. Beach Emergency (468-4900) is on Lynnhaven Pky.
